Accessibility
As a disabled independent scholar and artist, I work to make Its All So Monstrous as accessible and inclusive as I can, regardless of our abilities and the technologies we use. Unfortunately, these technologies have limits in their abilities to support our abilities.
In designing this site, I try to align with web accessibility guidelines. While recognizing I can’t always be fully compliant (alas, I am only--a disabled--human and will miss things), I work to make improvements were possible and regularly review site accessibility. So, as technologies, accessibility practices, and community needs evolve, so too will this website.
Accessibility features:
- ALT text is on images where supported
- The design choices are what make most sense for my ND brain and pass a readability test by my dyslexic bestie, but are still particular to my own bodymind.
- For screen reading, use features built in to your browser or preferred apps.
- Keyboard navigation:
- Activate keyboard navigation by pressing the tab key
- you’ll be able to jump though highlighted elements on the site by pressing the key repeatedly
- shift + tab to go back an element
- enter to activate links and buttons,
- space to activate buttons and checkboxes,
- arrow keys to navigate through menus and escape to close menus

- Dark/light mode slider is at bottom of the site
